Thompson shot 11 of 15, and drilled five 3-pointers for the Mean Green (8-2, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference). Eric Tramiel contributed with 10 points and nine rebounds. The Ragin' Cajuns (4-5, 0-1) were paced by Travis Bureau, who scored 14 points.
Dominique Johnson's 20 points helped lead North Texas to an 88-76 victory over Houston Baptist on Monday night. Collin Dennis added 14 points and Josh White had 13 for the Mean Green (7-2). Tristan Thompson scored 10 and George Odufuwa had three of North Texas' nine blocked shots. Gordon Watt and Baron Sauls provided the spark off the bench for Houston Baptist (0-10).

Shanice Stephens is six games into her job as the women's basketball coach at North Texas, and she's convinced it can all be fixed now. She should go to lunch with football coach Todd Dodge and learn a thing or two about patience. Stephens, who takes losing about as well as Bob Knight, was visibly appalled after UNT (3-3) crumbled defensively late in the first half and couldn't recover. North Texas freshman wide receiver Forrest Rucker was arrested on two felony counts of credit card/debit card abuse Tuesday, according to UNT police records. Rucker allegedly told police he made 26 unauthorized charges on another student's card totaling $397.34.
